Lord, it’s the tail end of the work day, and I haven’t gotten this up yet. Please forgive me. I took a misguided trip to the mall, and ended up stopping by Target and Pier 1 to stare at furniture and throw pillows. What you’re here for:

I just wrapped up a long-overdue test drive post for Modern Materialist, and boy do I feel wiped. (Nothing else knocks the stuffing out of me more than grappling with technical problems.) More I either a.) pass out, or b.) start watching My So-Called Life DVDs (I am so done with this week), here are the best of the best of the past week:

It’s been a heckuva week.

Last Friday, I turned down an interview with an academic book publisher in NJ, because I knew it couldn’t come close to making me as happy as freelancing did. Then I was contacted about another interview, at a magazine in NY that I actually loved, so I spent the bulk of the weekend in a slightly-Xanax-dulled frenzy, racing against time to complete a somewhat involved edit test, only to find out that the salary wasn’t enough to tempt me back into the city.

I also spent seven hours at an artist’s house on Monday, getting an Intimate Portrait done up, took my second salsa class, and saw my very first piece go up at lemondrop.

Yup. This week has been a doozy. Does anyone else feel as if things are becoming busier despire the recession?

Anyways, for your viewing pleasure:

It seems that this is a week for saying yes to new experiences. Last night, my husband and I took our first salsa-dancing class, for a piece I’m working on about couple-friendly workouts. And the other day, I scheduled a session with a portraitist who paints Intimate Portraits, and then met up with two other writers I had previously only communicated with online.

It’s tough to tear me away from the computer, though, and I’ve still been reading…

Here we are again, you guys. The end of another week (ohthankgod). It’s been a rough one, but the fact that I’ve been running around like a maniac working on multiple projects must mean that I’m doing something right.

Anyways. I’ve managed to pause here and there to squeeze some reading in:

It’s been a little spotty here at Freelancedom this week, with nothing going up on Wednesday or Thursday (notice how I tried to compensate by putting up an extra post today?).

Forgive me! I was buried in a copy editing project (a former colleague of mine did up a kick-ass parenting book that made me want to conceive) and brainstorming post topics for a possible new editor. So rest assured…I’ve been productive. Not all my time has been spent watching Netflixed episodes of My So-Called Life (every single episode makes me cry).

Anyway, let me shut up and give you what you came for:

Whew! Friday already, and I am wiped. Though the week started out as a major time-suck (eight hours of the Game Show Network on Sunday…don’t ask), I ended up sending out multiple pitches and letters of interest, got myself another copy editing project and another article assignment, got new clips up at the Frisky and Nerve, and managed to be pretty consistent with the blogging. Go me!

Of course, all that productivity didn’t stop me from obsessively checking my Google Reader and Twitter feeds for updates. The best of what I’ve read lately:

I’ve been trying to read more freelance/career blogs lately, and I hit the jackpot last night when I found the blogroll over at Monster.com’s blog. In addition, I’ve been meeting some great people through both Twitter and Brazen Careerist.

I don’t want to hold out on you here so, in the interest of forging new connections, and spreading around some pretty awesome content, here’s some of what I’ve been reading since the start of the new year:
